Form I-693 policy changes
Important news for those applying for the adjustment of status. Policy regarding Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, has changed. United States Citizenship and Immigration Services has limited Form I-693 validity period to one year from the date of submission to USCIS. The changes go into effect starting June 1, 2014.
Further guidance on filling in the form and submitting it will be provided by USCIS later this month.
In general, everyone applying for adjustment of status (to become a lawful US resident) and some immigrant visas must have a medical examination by a designated civil surgeon. Form I-693 reports the results of that medical examination. The form is used to establish the fact that the applicant can be admitted to the United States and there are no medical reasons against it.
